Drilling Geomechanics
Drilling risk mitigation
Most non-productive time starts in the rock: unstable hole, unexpected strength, abrasive beds that destroy bits and reamers. Aquitaine Energy quantifies these risks before and while drilling:
Wellbore stability: mud-weight windows along any trajectory, breakout and breakdown pressures.
Rock strength and abrasivity: UCS and Cerchar (CAI) profiles that drive bit and reamer selection and tool life.
Drilling-data feedback: the first sections drilled calibrate the model, and the forecast ahead of the bit updates in real time. Applies to oil and gas wells and to horizontal directional drilling (HDD) crossings.
